Drake has fired another salvo in his feud with Meek Mill after that rapper called Drake’s “Charged Up” diss track “baby lotion soft.” Three days later, Drake has responded again with “Back to Back Freestyle,” and there’s nothing soft or vague about this diss track as the Toronto rapper lays into Meek Mill.
The cruelest barbs in “Back to Back Freestyle” come when Drake attempts to emasculate Meek Mill for serving as opening act for his girlfriend Nicki Minaj’s Pinkprint Tour. “You love her then you gotta give the world to her / Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?/ I know that you gotta be a thug for her / This ain’t what she meant when she told you to open up more,” Drake says. (Incidentally, Meek Mill showed up 90 minutes late and was promptly booed when the Pinkprint Tour hit Drake’s native Toronto Tuesday night.)
Drake then takes aim at Meek Mill’s decision to beef through social media. “Trigger fingers turn to Twitter fingers,” Drake raps. “You’re getting bodied by a singing nigga.” Drake then warns all his “boss bitches” – but likely Minaj especially – “make sure you hit him with a pre-nup.”
The feud between Drake and Meek Mill stems from Mill’s accusations that Drake employed a ghostwriter for his guest verse on “R.I.C.O.,” a track off Meek Mill’s new album Dreams Worth More Than Money. An Atlanta rapper named Quentin Miller was then identified as Drake’s ghostwriter, though Miller and Drake’s producer Noah “40” Shebib denied the ghostwriting allegations.
“When I look back, I might be mad that I gave this attention / But it’s weighing heavy on my conscience / And fuck, you left me with no options,” Drake says on the new track. “I’m not sure what it was that made y’all mad / But I guess this is what I gotta do to make y’all rap.”
Meek Mill previously shared his own Drake “diss track” titled “Beautiful Nightmare” which just featured 15 seconds of moaning.
Good thing she has long hair! Nicki Minaj posted an ultra-sexy selfie on Instagram Wednesday, Aug. 7, in which she posed topless for the camera. The 30-year-old rapper strategically covered her boobs with her long dark hair to keep it semi-appropriate for social media.
In the risque shot, Minaj puckers up her lips and proudly flaunts her large chest. The “Super Bass” singer has never been shy about showing off her body on Instagram. On July 18, she posted a photo of her butt in a hot pink thong in honor of “Thong Thursdays.”
Minaj recently made some of her fans worry that she’d been taken off the market. On July 25, DJ Khaled posted an emotional, surprise proposal video asking for Minaj’s hand in marriage. Two days later, Minaj stepped out wearing a huge diamond ring causing speculation that she was, in fact, engaged. But it turned out to be a big publicity hoax.
“Khaled is my brother and Khaled was not serious with that damn proposal, ya’ll,” she told radio station Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex on July 29. “Please let it go. He was kidding. He’s not attracted to me, he doesn’t like me. We’re brother and sister.”
“It was just another way for him to kinda give the world a glimpse on the feeling of this record. Nobody in my real life took it seriously,” Minaj explained. “Everybody just hit me like, ‘LOL. Yo, Khaled is crazy.'”
Nicki Minaj, the rapper who has had much success on the pop charts with songs like “Starships” and “Super Bass,” says the rerelease of her sophomore album will be nostalgic for her early fans.
“The feel of the rerelease is kind of like my first sound, like the mixtapes,” she said of “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded — The Re-Up.” .
The rerelease comes seven months after “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. That album features pop, dance, R&B, reggae and rap sounds. It’s a far stretch from when Minaj kicked off her career as a sexed-up street rapper, signed by Lil Wayne in 2009 after she released three buzzed-about mixtapes. Her official debut, “Pink Friday,” is near double platinum and was nominated for a Grammy Award.
But the 29-year-old says she’s “back to basics” on her eight-track “Re-Up,” which features Lil Wayne, Tyga and some of Minaj’s proteges.
“It sounds probably more hood in some ways, for a lack of a better word,” she said.
Her pop fans won’t be disappointed, though: There’s also the Dr. Luke-produced, dance-flavored “Va Va Voom.”
In a recent telephone interview, Minaj talked about her new music, artists she is mentoring and working (kind of) with Mariah Carey on “American Idol.”
Nicki Minaj derailed the “American Idol” auditions in Charlotte, North Carolina Tuesday, after swearing at Mariah Carey and threatening, “I’m gonna knock you out” … sources tell TMZ.
In the footage, obtained by TMZ, Nicki is clearly furious … shouting, “I told them I’m not f*ckin’ putting up with her f**kin’ highness over there.”
Sources say Nicki later threatened to “knock out” Mariah … but she said it before the video starts.
It all went down while the two were sitting at the judge’s table … with Keith Urban sitting in between them and Randy Jackson sitting on the far end, next to Mariah.
We’re told the whole thing exploded over a disagreement over a contestant’s performance.
Listen closely as you play the video … you’ll hear
Nicki Get this s**t in self control. Get in control. Get in control.
Randy Settle down, settle down.
Nicki Don’t lose your head. Don’t lose your head (inaudible). Don’t tell me I’m a gangster.
Nicki (inaudible) every 5 minutes. So every time you patronize me, I’m-ma take it back, and if you’ve got a f**king problem, handle it.
Nicki I told them I’m not f**kin’ putting up with her f**king highness over there. Figure it the f**k out. Figure it out.
Nicki I’m not gonna sit here every f**king minute to have you come down and harass me every minute everyday.
Mariah is talking back at Nicki but it’s hard to hear what she’s saying.
According to our friends at MouthToEars.com, producers ended the auditions for the day so the two judges could cool down. We’ve confirmed that happened.
Big wigs on the show seem uncharacteristically upset by the blow up. It seems producers are worried about Mariah and Nicki co-existing for the long haul. [TMZ]
After dominating the Hip-Hop & Pop music charts, launching her own fragrance and scoring a $12 million judging gig on “American Idol” … what else could Nicki Minaj possibly take on next?
Reality TV, apparently.
According to an exclusive report, the rapstress is working on a brand new reality show with the E! network — who is famous for its catalog of reality shows, most notably “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” (and its many spin-offs).
However, don’t expect a full-fledge, 10+ episode reality series from Nicki.
“The plan is to do specials with her, not a whole series,” a source close to the situation revealed, adding that E! will air three Minaj specials in the fall, and filming for the specials has already begun.
Pound the alarm, fragrance fiends, because Pink Friday is in stores now.
The much-anticipated perfume comes packaged in a bottle shaped in the likeness of Minaj’s head and torso (would we expect anything less?), complete with pink wig, white bustier and gold nameplate chain. Looking like the playful spawn of a doll and an atomizer, it accurately reflects the singer’s colorful, quirkly fashion sense. The scent itself contains notes of fruit, vanilla and musk.
“I’ve been thinking about [a fragrance] for like, the last two years actually,” she told MTV News.
Named after Minaj’s 2010 album Pink Friday and its sequel, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, the fragrance joins Lady Gaga’s Fame as one of the higher-profile perfume launches this fall. “Pink Friday is a celebration of my life at this moment; it is a reflection of me as a creator, and an expression of me as a woman,” Minaj said in a press release. A “Moment 4 Life,” indeed.
Earlier this week, the wig-loving songstress debuted the scent at Macy’s Herald Square in New York dressed in a provocative ensemble as a sort of Barbie policewoman. Perhaps the newly minted American Idol judge is preparing for her upcoming role as an arbiter of vocal talent. But from Minaj, we’ve learned to expect nothing less.
After seeing the final product, Minaj declared, “My fans are going to spaz out when they see this.” For all of the “Barbz” out there—Minaj’s affectionate nickname for her followers, of which she counts 14 million on Twitter—the fragrance will be sold at Macy’s and other major department stores.
FOX announced Sunday that Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban were officially joining Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson as judges on American Idol. Shortly after that announcement, the show’s longtime host Ryan Seacrest shared the first shot of the brand-new foursome at the judges’ table via Facebook. “After some musical chairs, here’s how the new American Idol judges will be seated,” Seacrest, 37, wrote beneath a photo of Carey, 42, Urban, 44, Minaj, 29 and Jackson, 56, sitting down together (with Seacrest standing above) in midtown NYC.
“With the exciting addition of Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj, alongside Randy Jackson, American Idol’s star power has never been so great,” executive producer Simon Fuller said in a statement. With the addition of these new judges, this promises to be a very entertaining season!
