Chris Kirkpatrick: ‘N Sync VMA’s Reunion Reminded Me Why We Hate Each Other

Chris Stokes_NSync-reunion-MTV-VMA-2013

‘N Sync fans will have to hold onto the memory of Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards reunion forever — because the colossal boy band has absolutely no plans for a full-fledged reunion tour or comeback album. “No [tour],” band member Chris Kirkpatrick said Monday in a Florida radio interview with Johnny’s House. “This was for Justin to get the Video Vanguard Award.” Indeed, ‘N Sync’s brief medley of “Girlfriend,” “Gone” and “Bye, Bye, Bye” was just one segment of Justin Timberlake’s 15-minute set of mostly solo material.

Kirkpatrick good-naturedly joked that reuniting a decade after their last televised performance reopened old wounds. “It was funny because all of us getting back together, we remembered what we love about each other and what we hate about each other,” the singer, 41, said. “It was just a bit of fun.”

For Kirkpatrick, performing and dancing was definitely a physical challenge. “Honestly, when he talked to us I thought we were just coming out with mic stands and singing,” he admitted. “When I came home from rehearsals my girl’s like ‘Why are you drenched?’ . . .I’m too old for this! I was so worried about not messing up for him.”

JC Chasez similarly told Ryan Seacrest Monday that a full-fledged reunion is not in the cards. “No . . . it was just about five guys who were great friends who spent 10 or 15 years together touring and we wanted to give that back to our fans, but we were there mainly to support Justin,” Chasez, 37, said. “Literally, two minutes after seeing everybody you feel like no time has passed.”

Speaking with the Associated Press, Lance Bass also gave ‘N Sync fans the bad news. “It would be lovely to do [a reunion], but we’ve got nothing planned,” Bass, 34, said, citing Timberlake’s current world tour with Jay-Z. “Who knows what will happen when he’s off tour. It’s simply not part of the conversation right now. We just focused on that one performance .If we did anything like that, I think we would come up with something real special where we could actually call it ‘The Reunion.'”

Earlier plans for the group’s VMA performance included more stage time and ‘N Sync hits for all five men (Joey Fatone rounds out the group). “The guys wished it could have been more songs,” the source said. Regardless, “they loved being back together!”

Miley Cyrus’ Team “Freaking Out,” Robin Thicke “Bummed” After VMAs

Robin Thicke tapped Miley Cyrus to croon “Blurred Lines” onstage with him at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday, Aug. 26 — but, as the world now knows, the 20-year-old starlet arguably stole the show. Clad in a tiny leotard (before stripping down to her underwear) the former Hannah Montana star preceded Thicke’s entrance onstage with a raunchy, manic take on her smash “We Won’t Stop” — complete with giant teddy bears, twerking, tongue and hip thrusts and more.

“Robin thought it would be fun to include Miley, but he didn’t realize how much she would overshadow him. This was his big night and big performance,” one source tells Us of Thicke, who broke out in a big way this year with “Blurred Lines.” Continued the source: “I don’t think he would have done it knowing what it ended up like.”

“He had fun and was fine with how it came out,” counters a Thicke confidante. “He knew what they were going to do and thought it was fun and awesome. He had a great time.”

Despite the success of “Blurred Lines” on the charts, the talked-about clip failed to win Thicke any Moonmen. “He’s also super bummed that he didn’t win, especially Video of the Year,” says the first source.

Those closest to Cyrus are also scratching their heads. “Miley’s team is freaking about that performance,” the first insider admits. “They saw the rehearsals, but those were really played down compared to the live performance.”

“It’s the VMAs, of course she’s going to do a standout performance!” a second Cyrus insider insists. “No one (from her team) was shocked by this.”

Kanye West Debuts Baby North On Kris Jenner’s Talk Show

Here she is!

The world got its first look at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s daughter, North West, when the rapper revealed a photo of the baby girl during his appearance Friday on Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner’s talk show.

The baby girl, born June 15, is the first child for Kardashian and West.

“To stop all the noise, I thought it’d be really cool, on her grandmother’s season finale, to bring a picture of North,” West said, clarifying that the couple has “not attempted to get paid” for the image.

During the talk show appearance, West talked about fatherhood and his relationship with Kardashian.

“I was in love with her before I ever even got to talk to her,” he admitted to his girlfriend’s mother on the show.

Referencing Kardashian’s past relationships with professional athletes, West joked, “I wanted to be with her so bad that I thought about picking up sports.”

“I can have people saying that this is going to damage your credibility as an artist or a designer, and I say, ‘I don’t care, I love this woman,'” he said, adding, “She’s my joy, and she brought my new joy into the world. There’s no paparazzi and there’s no blog comments that’s going to take that joy from me.”

Speaking about fatherhood, the rapper joked, “I’m supposed to be this musical genius, but I can’t work the car seat that well.”

He also said becoming a dad has changed his outlook on life.

“After I lost my mother, there were times I felt I would put my life at risk,” he said. “I felt like sometimes I didn’t have something to live for. Now I have two really special people to live for, a whole family to live for, a whole world to live for.”

Halle Berry & Jennifer Garner Join Forces To Support Anti-Paparazzi Bill That Would Make Photographing Their Kids A Crime

Halle Berry and Jennifer Garner have both been there and done that—and they’re so over it.

“I chose a public life,” Garner, who’s on the cover of the September issue of Allure, acknowledged today in Sacramento, testifying before the California State Assembly Committee on Public Safety in support of a proposed anti-paparazzi bill that would make it a crime for shutterbugs to photograph children without their legal guardian’s permission.

“My three children are private citizens,” she said. “I love my kids. They’re beautiful and sweet and innocent, and I don’t want a gang of shouting, arguing, lawbreaking photographers who camp out everywhere we are all day, every day, to continue traumatizing my kids.”

Berry, who also testified before lawmakers in Sacramento in June and has repeatedly tried to ward off paparazzi from bothering her daughter at school, had her own horror stories to share as well.

The pregnant Oscar winner said Tuesday that photographers have asked her 5-year-old child, “‘How do you feel, Nahla? You may not see your father again. How do you feel about that?’

“They say curse words and call me names, all trying to provoke some sort of response to sell a photograph.”

Senate Bill 606, written by Sen. Kevin DeLeon of Los Angeles, would change the legal definition of harassment to include photographing or recording a child without the permission of a legal guardian.

The proposed legislation is expected to be heard by the Assembly Judiciary Committee. Newspaper publishers have expressed concern that the bill could inhibit them from doing their jobs.

Nicki Minaj Posts Topless Picture Of Herself On Instagram

chris-stokes_nicki-minaj-lg

Good thing she has long hair! Nicki Minaj posted an ultra-sexy selfie on Instagram Wednesday, Aug. 7, in which she posed topless for the camera. The 30-year-old rapper strategically covered her boobs with her long dark hair to keep it semi-appropriate for social media.

In the risque shot, Minaj puckers up her lips and proudly flaunts her large chest. The “Super Bass” singer has never been shy about showing off her body on Instagram. On July 18, she posted a photo of her butt in a hot pink thong in honor of “Thong Thursdays.”

Minaj recently made some of her fans worry that she’d been taken off the market. On July 25, DJ Khaled posted an emotional, surprise proposal video asking for Minaj’s hand in marriage. Two days later, Minaj stepped out wearing a huge diamond ring causing speculation that she was, in fact, engaged. But it turned out to be a big publicity hoax.

“Khaled is my brother and Khaled was not serious with that damn proposal, ya’ll,” she told radio station Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex on July 29. “Please let it go. He was kidding. He’s not attracted to me, he doesn’t like me. We’re brother and sister.”

“It was just another way for him to kinda give the world a glimpse on the feeling of this record. Nobody in my real life took it seriously,” Minaj explained. “Everybody just hit me like, ‘LOL. Yo, Khaled is crazy.'”

Usher’s Ex-Wife Tameka Foster Files For Custody Of Sons

Tameka Foster isn’t happy with ex-husband Usher following their firstborn son’s scary pool accident. The 42-year-old celebrity stylist filed legal documents in Fulton County, Ga., asking for an emergency custody hearing on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

According to sources, Foster, 42, is demanding custody of their sons, Usher Raymond V, 5, and Naviyd Ely Raymond, 4. She claims that Usher, 34, who currently has primary custody, is allowing other unfit people to care for their children, thereby and creating an unsafe environment. (Usher filed for divorce from Foster in June 2009 after nearly two years of marriage. Since then, the two have had an ongoing, heated custody battle over their children.)

The filing comes one day after their son Usher was hospitalized after nearly drowning in the singer’s pool on Aug. 5. TMZ reported that the little boy got his arm stuck in the drain while being watched by his aunt. After struggling to free his arm, he was given CPR and admitted to the intensive care unit. Usher was not home at the time, but arrived in time to ride in the ambulance with his son.
“This was a tragic, unfortunate accident. He is just so relieved that Junior is OK,” a source close to Usher tells Us Weekly. “He was shaken to hear the news but just so relieved.”

In July 2012, Foster’s 11-year-old son Kile Glover, Usher’s stepson, was fatally struck in the head by a jet ski. “I’m still in shock,” Foster told Entertainment Tonight in September 2012. “I think this will probably be the greatest pain I will ever experience, losing him. But, it gave me strength beyond measure and it made me determined to fight for my other [children].”

Miley Cyrus Says People Tried To “Make Me The White Nicki Minaj”

chris stokes

Miley Cyrus’ musical makeover is almost as divisive as her physical transformation. Once known for kid-friendly pop hits like “Start All Over” and “See You Again” during her days as a Disney Channel star, the rebellious 20-year-old shows off an ostensibly more mature side on her latest single, “We Can’t Stop.”

The outspoken musician (whose fiance Liam Hemsworth recently called off their engagement, as exclusively reported by Us Weekly) tells the latest issue of Billboard that her new look and sound has sparked some unfair comparisons to her contemporaries. “A lot of people wanted to try to make me the white Nicki Minaj,” Cyrus says of the chart-topping rapper. “That’s not what I’m trying to do. I love ‘hood’ music, but my talent is as a singer.”

Known for her love of twerking, Cyrus adds, “I can’t really be told what to do right now. I’m too young to go in and make someone else’s vision come to life. I want to go make my visions.”

Though she’s often seen clubbing and sings about drug use in her latest single, Cyrus insists she has an unparalleled work ethic. “I never stop working, ever — I put my track list together this morning,” she tells Billboard. “I want my record to be the biggest record in the world, and I’ve given everything to get here, even down to friends and family and relationships — I’ve just put this music first.”

“That’s been kind of a trip: It’s not like I’m losing who I am — I actually found out more about who I am by making this music,” she continues. “I’m going on a journey, and that’s more than a lot of 20-year-olds can say. And I’m still going to change so much. Because I’m not the same person I was six months ago — I’m not even the same person I was two weeks ago.”

Though “We Can’t Stop” shot to the top of the iTunes charts when it was released June 3, the track received flak for its adult themes. Cyrus dismisses such criticisms, arguing that it’s important for her to be honest about her experiences.

“I’m 20 years old and I want to talk to the people that are up all night with their friends,” she says of the song, produced by Mike WiLL Made It. “It’s based on a true story of a crazy night I had: When I heard the song for the first time, it captured exactly what I was living. I didn’t make this song for the critics, but for the people living it.”

As for the rest of her album, due this September? “I’ve always wanted country-rock influences, but now I’m moving over to a more urban side,” she says. “It’s not a hip-hop album, though-it’s a pop album. I’m not coming in trying to rap. It’s more like, ‘I don’t see any girls out there doing what Miguel and Frank Ocean are doing.'”

Cyrus’ full interview is featured in the latest issue of Billboard, on sale Monday, June 17.
